About Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to raise money for cancer research and care while honoring friends and families battling all forms of cancer. DOC is an all-volunteer 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. Funds are raised through charitable donations, sponsorships, and your participation in annual golf tournaments, car shows, dinners, concerts, events, and live and silent auctions. Proceeds from these events go directly toward specific cancer research projects. Some proceeds will also go toward assisting families and/or individuals with cancer treatment costs.

Since its inception in 2012, DOC has raised over $1.5 million to fight cancer through a combination of charitable contributions and matching funds. DOC has funded over 10+ specific research projects at leading institutions (such as City of Hope, Children’s Hospital of Orange County) focusing on cures for a wide range of cancers.

Our Inspiration

Learn more about the man who inspired us to bring Driving Out Cancer to the next level: Mr. Michael Brown

Mike was loved by many and is missed for his humor, compassion, and positive outlook on life. During his 50+ years, he touched the hearts of many who grew to know and love him. Mike came to DOC early on when finding decent grandstands was nearly impossible. In a total act of giving, Michael gifted the costly and elaborate grandstand stadium, providing the long drivers a stadium-like environment in which to compete. Michael also gave generously with auction items that raised nearly $100,000 alone. Michael leaves behind two daughters and we love them so much.

Driving Out Cancer Inc. ( previously a chapter of GAC) sprouted in 2012 when Jeff Farley dreamt of bringing a long drive tour event to Southern California. Like all PGA Tour events, Jeff knew choosing a cause would be the most powerful way to showcase world-class long drive professionals. After a brief conversation, the choice was made to raise money for cancer research and care. A dedicated team of volunteers came together to raise an unexpected net sum of $70,000 with an event consisting of a black-tie gala at the Marconi Auto Museum in Tustin and a pro-am at Alta Vista Country Club. Over the past decade, we have held events at venues such as Alta Vista CC and Mesa Verde CC. Finally, we landed the best venue; our current home at The Huntington Club.

In 2022 the event made a major announcement changing the name of the event from The Endless Summer Invitational to The Michael Brown Invitational (MB), which will remain as the name of the event for the foreseeable future. The name change honors our dear friend Michael Brown for his dedication and generosity to the event. Michael so generously donated the grandstands to our event making it a high-level venue suitable for TV. The MB Invitational has enjoyed a vast media reach, with televised events on the Golf Channel, KDOC TV Los Angeles, and FOX. The social media impact is also very respectable as the participants have hundreds of thousands of followers. This is a world-class event that will only continue to grow.

The Huntington Club is the site of DOC’s flagship fundraising tournament and concerts, but fundraising events are also being held at Lakeside CC in Southern California. The goal of DOC is to also locate other events that want to make Driving Out Cancer their beneficiary.
